The efficiency of cooperative performance describes the level of ability of cooperatives to utilize resources to generate profits. The efficient performance will increase productivity and strengthen business competitiveness. This research was conducted on secondary cooperatives at the provincial level throughout Indonesia as many as 34 cooperatives. Data were analyzed from 2019 – 2021 using the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method. The results of the analysis show that the performance of cooperatives in Indonesia is very low, which is equal to 0.23. The low level of efficiency in the performance of cooperatives in Indonesia is caused by the use of input resources that exceed the target needed to produce optimal profits. The level of achievement of the number of active cooperatives in generating profits is only 2.39 percent of the required number of active cooperatives. Utilization of own capital exceeds the required target with a ratio of 8.65 percent. The ratio of external capital utilization is 1.11 percent of the required capital requirement. Asset utilization exceeds the target required to achieve efficient performance with a ratio of 0.21 percent. The accuracy of the business volume developed by the cooperative exceeds the required target with a ratio of 0.36 percent. The results of this study recommend to cooperative authorities re-verify existing cooperatives at the provincial level by fostering and strengthening competitiveness.
